I love working with encaustic waxes. The fluidity and vibrancy of the wax is as alive as the images in my mind. The richness of the colors, the range of textures, and the magic in the way the colors explode and merge give visual expression to my deepest felt emotions. The uncontrollable nature of the molten wax gives me the freedom to let my work become, rather than try to control it. Combining the encaustic wax and oxidized metal has let me create wall sculptures that make my artscapes more dimensional and tactile. Both mediums will endure the test of time - the metal will continue oxidizing and the waxes will maintain their color and clarity as evidenced by the durability of the centuries old paintings of the Greeks and Romans.
